Build Anything On-Chain with the Third Gen Blockchain
DFINITY's Internet Computer Protocol can host almost anything on-chain while being free from clutches of the Corporate Cloud.
So, what can you build or host on the #InternetComputer Protocol?
Pretty much everything.
Smart Contracts Scalability and Composability is the Holy Grail of Blockchain. Internet Computer Protocol "reimagines" the Public Internet on the Public Blockchain.
Internet Computer Protocol creates a very powerful blockchain-powered virtual machine called the Internet Computer (#IC).
Smart Contracts of IC serve the web browser directly through HTTP Calls.
So what does this mean for web3?
The blockchain serving the web directly removes the need for a third party to interact with the chain. Users can just open their browser, type the URL and use the dapp from their chrome browser w/o having to download any wallet extension.
The Internet Computer is a blockchain that enables developers, organizations, and entrepreneurs to build and deploy secure, autonomous, and tamper-proof canisters, an evolution of smart contracts. — DFINITY
Chain Key cryptography is a set of novel cryptographic protocols developed by the #DFINITY Foundation, that enables #ICP to run at web speed and scale without bounds.
Smart Contracts can be considered as “Codes that can make commitments”
Smart Contracts just require tokens to execute a pre-written immutable code on the blockchain, that can build up like lego blocks to create powerful trustless transactions.
ICP further takes it up a notch with its feature-rich protocols such as:
Web speed finality.
Reverse gas model.
On-chain hosting.
The blockchain serves the web directly w/o cloud.
Unbound scaling.
Orthogonal persistence.
WASM VM.
Internet Identity authentication system.
The use of WebAssembly as the execution layer[2] of the Internet Computer gives canisters (dapps/smart contracts) an execution environment that allows for very powerful smart contracts. — ICWikia
Eg: the "Reverse gas" model, where users don't always need tokens to interact with blockchain/smart contracts. Canister Smart contracts pay for their computation themselves by consuming and burning the cycles.
You can theoretically build a smart contract platform to create and launch a space station to the orbit, (that would require audits and meatspace collaborations as well). The ledger is public, so funny business = bad reputation in the Metaverse and in the REAL world to an extent
Because blockchain has brought forward a "Web3" culture, where NFTs have become much more than just JPEGs/images by allowing you to connect with people.
Hosting assets on blockchain not only makes them immutable and secure but also allows creators and users to monetize their 'unique' experiences in this new digital realm.
